French’s bakery is a decent place to pick up cakes, cupcakes, and fresh baked bread. The staff isn’t too friendly. They do not accept Apple Pay, which is a big downside to me going there when I walk with my kids.

My mom and then I have been ordering at French's Bakery since, well I don't know if it was the '60s or '70s, but it's been a LONG time. The last location I frequented was their Mission Viejo shop tucked away in a small strip mall. Parking in that center was always bad and their shop didn't exactly stand out which i suppose led to its closure. I grew up on sandwiches made with their white bread and still won't buy any of the brand name breads at the supermarket. I've been spoiled by French's bread and pastries, especially their chocolate eclairs. What I wouldn't give for one of those right now! I've found if you take the time and approach the staff with a smile and a "Good morning" they will be more friendly than if you're rushed and curt. The only bakery I found that was better was an actual French bakery, with an actual French baker, that was in Costa Mesa Courtyards shopping center back in the '80's but they closed decades ago. French's Bakery has always been dependable, always been great tasting, especially those chocolate eclairs, for as long as I can remember, maybe 50 plus years? That's a track record that's hard to beat. To everyone who has ever worked at any of their location's I've visited, thanks for your hard work. I'm not quite as thankful for the 10 extra pounds I gained.

Celebrating a co-worker's birthday, we stopped at French's Bakery in Costa Mesa to pick up a cake for a surprise birthday party. The staff took care of me, making sure the cake was ready to go and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. They have a wide selection to choose from and if you have enough time, you can have custom cakes made. Great prices. Definitely will use again.

Excellent bakery with lots of variety. Fresh and baked daily. Ask to have your single pastry warmed up so you can eat it right away. Staff helpful and professional, but not very friendly. You just don't get that warm and welcoming feeling. I'm sure they're all tired from being there before butt crack or dawn to start baking, so it's somewhat understandable.

Awesome customer service and their cakes have always been delicious. Recently, I ordered a wedding cake from the French’s Bakery in Mission Viejo. Unfortunately, I received a phone call that the store would be closing a week before I needed my cake. My order and cake flowers were transferred to their bakery in Costa Mesa and they offered to deliver the cake to me. The cake arrived on time, was just what we ordered and was delicious. Thank you very much for going above and beyond.

32+ YRS ago, my work used to get the wagon wheels (cream cheese/fruit coffee cake/giant danish) for meetings. They're STILL HERE & JUST as delish!!! My mom & dad had me pick up some bear claws before I visited them an hour away. They remembered them from years before, also! I arrived when they opened @ 7a, to be sure they still had bear claws, as they're one of the most popular items. I bought 2 cream cheese danishes.. .mmmmmmm!!! I'd pay extra if I could get them to put DOUBLE cream cheese on a wagon wheel! Next time!! Get there early, or call ahead & place an order. They close @ 3p. Pop

I was looking for a treat for myself and had been going to French’s at that location for years. I didn’t get treats that day; Mission Viejo was permanently closed. Later in the week I went to another location and wasn’t impressed; not sure if it was the disappointment of Mission Viejo closing but I doubt I will make the trip anytime soon.
